Symbolic interpretation
A late-Scorpio Sun beside Saturn
- Saturn ≈0° Sagittarius
- Sun conjunct Saturn orb ≈1.1°
Public context: in a 2019 NPR interview about her album Dedicated, Jepsen described choosing both euphoric, light songs and more intimate material for the same record.
Symbolic lens: the Sun sits in the final degree of Scorpio all day, within about one to one and a half degrees of Saturn, which is just across the line in early Sagittarius. Scorpio is read as depth and intensity; Saturn as craft, structure and patience. A Sun joined to Saturn is traditionally read as seriousness about the work under whatever surface it shows. That is an interpretive image, not a reason for any song.
