Lilith sign calculator
Black Moon Lilith is the point where the Moon’s orbit is farthest from Earth, averaged over time (the mean lunar apogee). It moves forward about 3° a month and stays roughly nine months in each sign, so a birth date and city are usually enough to find its sign.

What this calculator measures
Lilith here is a calculated point, not a planet, a second moon or the asteroid 1181 Lilith. The Moon travels around Earth in an ellipse; the far end of that ellipse is the apogee. Lunara uses Swiss Ephemeris to compute the mean apogee, which smooths out the orbit’s short-term wobble, and reports its tropical, geocentric longitude.
The interpretation that astrologers attach to Lilith is symbolic. It does not describe your personality, your relationships or your history, and it is not a diagnosis of anything. The notes above are reflection prompts, nothing more.
Mean Lilith or true Lilith?
Some apps use “true” (osculating) Lilith, which follows the Moon’s instantaneous orbit instead of the average. The two can differ by several degrees and sometimes fall in different signs, so another site may show a different Lilith sign. Neither is a mistake; they are different conventions. This page always uses mean Lilith and says so on the result.
Without a birth time
Mean Lilith moves only about 0.11° a day. If you leave the time blank, Lunara checks your whole local birth date, from 00:00 to 23:59:59 in the timezone of your birth city. On most dates the sign is the same all day; on the few days Lilith crosses into a new sign, you will see both signs and the local change time. Without a time, we show the degree range for that day, not a single exact degree.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Black Moon Lilith?
- In astrology, Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee: the point of the Moon’s orbit farthest from Earth. It is a calculated point, not a planet or the asteroid 1181 Lilith. Its meaning in astrology is symbolic.
- Why does another site show a different Lilith sign?
- It may be using true (osculating) Lilith instead of mean Lilith. The two conventions can differ by several degrees and occasionally by a sign. This calculator uses mean Lilith, the mean lunar apogee.
- Do I need my birth time to find my Lilith sign?
- Usually not. Mean Lilith moves about 0.11° per day, so the sign is normally the same for the whole birth date. When it changes sign during your birth date, the calculator shows both signs and the local time of the change.
- Does my Lilith sign describe my personality or love life?
- No. Lilith is a symbolic point some astrologers use for reflection. It cannot establish anything about your personality, relationships, sexuality or past.
