Alicia Silverstone's birth chart: beyond the Libra label

4 min read

Alicia Silverstone turns 50 on October 4, 2026. Her Libra Sun is easy to find on a celebrity zodiac list. The more interesting detail is how close that Sun sits to Pluto: about 0.22°, or 13 arcminutes, using the published birth time below.

Two planets sharing a sign can be almost 30° apart. These two are nearly on the same mark. That detail gives us more to work with than “Libra is charming.” The birthday is an occasion to look at her natal chart, rather than forecast her fiftieth year.

The birth data behind the calculation

Astrotheme's Alicia Silverstone entry lists October 4, 1976, at 3:44 p.m. in San Francisco, California. It labels the time AA, with “birth certificate or birth record” as the source and Lois Rodden as contributor.

That is the publisher's reliability classification. We have not inspected the underlying birth record ourselves. It is more specific sourcing than an unattributed celebrity clock, but it should not be silently promoted into firsthand verification.

For this example, we use the tropical zodiac and San Francisco's historical civil timezone. The listed local time was 15:44 PDT, or 22:44 UTC. Lunara's existing Swiss Ephemeris calculation gives:

  • Sun: approximately 11.83° Libra.
  • Pluto: approximately 11.60° Libra.
  • Shortest angular separation: 0.222°.

An arcminute is one sixtieth of a degree. The calculated gap is 13.34 arcminutes, rounded here to about 13. Astrotheme's separately rounded display places the Sun at 11°50′ and Pluto at 11°36′; the important point is the close conjunction, not a claim of thirteen-minute birth-record precision.

What a Sun–Pluto conjunction means in a reading

In astrological interpretation, the Sun is associated with identity, agency and the way someone takes up space. Pluto is associated with power, intensity and deep change. A conjunction brings those symbolic themes together.

One way to read the combination is “What feels important enough that I want to own the decision?” Another is “When does commitment turn into trying to control an outcome?” These are questions someone can use, not findings about Silverstone's private character.

Libra adds a different vocabulary: relationship, proportion, competing interests, an agreement worth making. That does not make every Libra agreeable. Read together, these symbols can invite a question about how to negotiate without giving away authorship of your own choices.

The conjunction does not establish that Silverstone is controlling, that a career decision was astrologically inevitable, or that a character she played reveals her inner life. Turning a famous person into evidence for a symbol is an easy shortcut; it is not a careful reading.

The rest of the chart can change the conversation

The same calculation places Neptune at about 11.69° Sagittarius. Its shortest separation from the Sun is 59.86°, close to the 60° angle called a sextile.

Astrologers commonly associate Neptune with imagination, ideals and blurred boundaries. Alongside the Sun–Pluto question about agency, a Sun–Neptune reflection might ask: “Which part of this goal is a real choice, and which part is an image I want to live up to?”

That is already a richer exercise than assigning a personality to one sign. It still does not prove that astrology caused a person's work or tells us what she feels. The measured angle and the symbolic question are different kinds of statement.

Would an uncertain birth time erase this conjunction?

For the Sun and Pluto here, a missing clock would not make the close contact disappear from our sampled illustration. Across 25 sampled local clocks on October 4, 1976—hourly values plus 23:59—the shortest separation stayed below 0.55°.

Those are sampled results, not proven continuous bounds or equally likely birth times. They support a limited point: this slow-moving pair is less sensitive to the clock than an Ascendant or house assignment. They do not make the clock irrelevant to the full chart.

If you do not know your own birth time, this worked example shows what a date-only chart can and cannot tell you. Do not borrow a celebrity's time or treat an arbitrary noon chart as a recovered birth record.

A birthday reflection you can actually use

You do not need this conjunction—or any conjunction—to try a short birthday exercise:

  1. Choose one decision from the past year that felt genuinely yours.
  2. Name one occasion when protecting an outcome became more effort than the outcome deserved.
  3. Write one small choice you want to make differently this year.

Add a counterexample if the symbolic theme does not fit. A useful reading leaves room for “not me.” No answer needs to be posted or shared.

For your own calculated contacts, start with your natal chart. If you want a longer symbolic reading with reflection questions, see the actual fictional natal sample before deciding whether to buy. The existing paid reading is natal, not a solar-return report or a forecast for the next birthday.

For a different celebrity example, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas share a birthday, not an entire chart.

Dakota Johnson also has an October 4 birthday, but her Libra Sun sits close to Mars rather than Pluto. That is another reason not to equate a birthday or Sun sign with a whole chart.

Source and method

Public birth data and publisher reliability: Astrotheme. Calculations use Lunara's existing Swiss Ephemeris path, geocentric tropical longitudes and the stated historical timezone. Values are rounded for reading; the original illustration magnifies a one-degree interval, not physical distances between planets. This article does not calculate a solar return, diagnose a person, or forecast private events. Astrology is used here as a symbolic reflection practice, not established scientific evidence of personality or causation.
